The French speaking community of Acadiana and friends are invited to celebrate the 6th Journée International de la Francophonie Saturday, March 18 at Cité des Arts, with an evening of story telling, music, poetry and prose from French speaking countries as diverse as Québec, Haiti, Morocco, France, Belgium and Louisiana.
"Paroles & musiques" : the late afternoon event
(4 to 8 PM), organized by UL Lafayette`s Francophone Studies Program will feature cultural and gastronomical experiences from all around the Francophone world. The $10 entrance fee will help defray the costs and fund future French language activities and scholarships.
"Une heure joyeuse" at 307 Jazz Club (307 Jefferson Street) from 8 to 9 PM leads into a Francophone music Soirée dansante from 9 to 11:30 PM.
"Francomix party" : dance or simply enjoy the exotic sounds of zouk, electro, ndombolo, hip-hop, pop, disco and more with KRVS’ Francomixeur. Entrance is free.
