K Phanie will be in concert on December 12 2008 in Francophone Cultural Center in Vancouver (British Columbia - Canada).
K Phanie was exposed to music at a very young age. She sang in a number of choirs and in high school, she studied in a special programme with music and theory instruction. While continuing her singing lessons, she joined her school band, where she learned to play the transverse fl ute. During her CEGEP and university studies, she
devoted herself completely to her vocal and music training. She received her Diploma of College Studies in classical singing, as well as a Bachelor’s Degree in music, with a major in jazz performance and
pop music, and a specialization in voice.
Throughout this time, she taught herself to play piano so she could accompany herself on stage and strengthen her composing skills. In fact, composition became increasingly important to her, leading K Phanie
to fi nd her path as a singer/songwriter/composer. This creative work reinforced her passion and her skills.
With her natural gift for language, she quickly began to incorporate poetic lyrics to her melodies, fi rst and foremost in English.
Although French is the artist’s mother tongue, K Phanie has only recently started writing a signifi cant portion of her work in this beautiful and poetic language.
K Phanie’s music is infl uenced by various eclectic sources, from 1980’s New Wave, to contemporary French
pop, as well as British electro-punk or progressive rock... and also a touch of musical theatre and even some
jazz. Let yourself be charmed by this artist, freshly arrived from Quebec, who will remind bring back some
good memories, or perhaps inspire you to go on a little vacation...
