M for Montreal enters its third year with a double splash
at the SXSW Music and Media Conference. Quebec’s
hottest talent from singer-songwriters to sophisticated
rockers to expert practitioners of global hip-hop will
slam through two nights of adrenaline-pumping music
at Maggie Mae’s, 323 Sixth Street, in Austin (USA).
Thursday night’s line up will include Caroline Keating,
The Hot Springs, Martha Wainwright, The Mission
District, United Steel Workers of Montreal, Your Favorite
Enemies. On Friday night Creature takes to stage along
with Katie Moore, Krief, Plants & Animals,
Thunderheist, and Torngat.
Think of SXSW as a delicious sneak preview of all the
energy and spirit of M for Montreal’s third annual
showcase and networking event that will be held in
Montreal on November 21 through November 23, 2008.
For the first time this year’s program will also include a
night in Toronto. M for Montreal is an invitation-only
event that showcases Montreal’s finest export-ready
talent to international music industry decision-makers
in an exclusive setting designed for high value
professional networking.
M for Montreal is an “export & network” platform that
was founded in 2006 as a fun project for the creative
director of the event, Sébastien Nasra (Avalanche
Productions, an established Montreal management and
music publishing firm), and the legendary British
festival programmer Martin Elbourne (Glastonbury
Festival, The Great Escape and co-founder with Peter
Gabriel of the WOMAD Festival). |
