Born in 1953 in Dimbokro, Ivory Coast, Seydou Koné (Alpha Blondy) was raised by his mother and grandmother Bintou. Called Elvis Blondy by his classmates, the teenager created the band Atomic Vibrations before leaving for Liberia in 1973 to learn English.

In 1982, he left for New York where he recorded his first songs. Back in Ivory Coast, he became successful on a music show from national TV (RTI) and released his first album « Jah Glory » in 1982. The single « Brigadier Sabari » spoke against the violence of the police and was an international success. Between « Jah Glory » and « Jah Victory », Alpha Blondy developed a career with 15 albums.

Recognised as the father of African reggae, this year he released a new 18 track cd produced by Tyrone Downie, a friend of Bob Marley, with some jewels like « Mister grande gueule ».
