Lucien Ginszburg, born in 1928, became a myth in the typical Chanson. Singer, writer, director, actor,... he’s also famous for his compositions written for Juliette Gréco, Régine, Brigitte Bardot, France Gall, Françoise Hardy, Jane Birkin, Jacques Dutronc, Alain Chamfort, Alain Bashung, Julien Clerc, Diane Dufresne, his daughter Charlotte or Bambou, his last girlfriend. He was an incredible melodist, taught by his father, a jazz pianist. « Gainzbarre » was also known for his different provocations on TV or with certain songs like « Les sucettes » (1964), « La décadanse » (1971), « Je t’aime, moi non plus » (1975) and the remake of the French national anthem « Aux armes et caetera » (1979). At the end of the 60’s, he was one of the most exported French artists: Jimmy Somerville or Pulp recently produced some beautiful cover versions. His various styles, from jazz to reggae, transformed this seducer into an icon. Serge died in 1991 at the age of 63, from of a heart attack due to alcohol and tobacco abuse. « Le poinçonneur des lilas », « La javanaise » or « Je suis venu de dire que je m’en vais » will always be classics.
