Partners in life and on stage, Ginette and Mathieu d’Astous each have a solo career to show for themselves. They are both from Acadia and they have each been selected, a few years apart, as “Sacré Talents” by Radio-Canada. Ginette became known for her hit song “A bientôt” (See you soon), which came from her first album, and in 2007 she launched her new opus, “Taxi Miki”. Mathieu d’Astous is a former member of the band Zéro Celsius and he toured Canada and Europe with them. In 2006 he launched “Les Méandres”. The duo Ginette and Mathieu brings a new sound to the Acadian community, with a vibrant and moving show that won’t leave anyone feeling indifferent.
Geneviève Chassée
Singer-songwriter-composer Geneviève Chassée is a self-taught artist whose moving and sincere performance in the 2009 “Rencontres qui chantent” drew much acclaim. Just back from the Franco-fête in Acadia, Geneviève Chassée will present her new compositions at the Waterfront Theatre.
Marie-Pierre Arthur
Nominated for three Felix awards at the 2009 ADISQ Gala in the categories “Best new artist of the Year”, “Folk Album of the Year” and “Popular Song of the Year”, Marie-Pierre Arthur’s entry into the francophone music scene is not going unnoticed. This artist from Quebec launched her first solo album under her own name in March 2009 before a packed house and an enthusiastic audience. With her exceptional voice and great stage presence, she will present her ethereal songs, which are both sweet and rhythmic, in an intimate folk style that fully projects her melodic sensitivity and her irresistible charm.
Yann Perreau
An all-round artist, actor, poet, singer-songwriter-composer, Yann Perreau is a force to be reckoned with on the francophone music scene. Nominated for five Felix awards at the 2009 ADISQ Gala in the categories “Pop-rock Album of the Year”, “Popular Song of the Year”, “Singer-songwriter-composer of the Year”, “Male Vocalist of the Year” and “Record Producer of the Year”, Yann Perreau has shown himself to be not just a scintillating performer but a man of letters as well.
