For those who don’t know him yet Daniel Boucher was made for the stage, a real showman, at the border between Rock and Chanson, who is really talented to put the crowd at his feet. Often compared to Robert Charlebois or Plume Latraverse for his musical style, he first earned recognition in 2000 with the album “Dix mille matins”. A new millennium and plenty of awards for Daniel who won with this album not less than six trophies among which the Felix best new artist of the year and the best singer-songwriter of the year at the ADISQ gala.
His success was followed right after by a long period of tour. Mainly all over the province of Québec but also in Western Canada, as we heard him in Winnipeg and Vancouver in 2002 during the Coup de Coeur francophone tour. The years 2004 and 2008 correspond to the release of two new albums, respectively “La patente” and “Le soleil est mort”.
Beyond the fact that the Montreal born artist regularly participates to tribute events at big names side such as Pierre Flynn, Robert Charlebois or Luc de Larochellière, he also often commits himself thoroughly to emerging artists as he was ambassador of the Festival international de la chanson de Granby in 2009 and special guest artist at the Festival en chanson de Petite-Vallée in 2007.
What characterizes most Daniel Boucher’s music is the invention of new words, based on a blend between French, “Joual” (French Canadian dialect) and sometimes English. His intense presence on stage is also an element that allowed Daniel to quickly stand apart from other artists of his time.
Daniel Boucher is going to be among us, in Vancouver, on May 28, and will perform four of his songs during the Pacifique en chanson gala. He will also be here during the training week and will advise our four candidates on a thematic that makes his uniqueness: the notion of artistic and musical world.
