Pacifique en chanson: Guillaume Arsenault ambassador of the 2011 edition

The Conseil culturel et artistique francophone de la Colombie-Britannique is honored to announce that Guillaume Arsenault will be the artist ambassador of the 2011 edition of Pacifique en chanson.

The Gaspésie region has contributed to the Quebec song in many ways, as inspiring influence but also as hometown for several famous singer-songwriters. One of the most recent discoveries of the big cities music lovers comes precisely from this region. His name: Guillaume Arsenault.

Hail from Bonaventure, Guillaume gets his inspiration as much from his native land as from urban centers. The result: a collection of songs with a refined and poetic writing upon melodies that make the connection between tradition and future. Far from being victim of technology, “Géophonik”, picks cheerfully up in everything that moves around, in order to better twist and make music with all its noises. Guillaume offers with his third opus “Géophonik”, released in 2009, a music which could be better described as “folktronica”.

Our ambassador is also familiar with music contests. After the Festival en chanson de Petite-Vallée, where he got the honors in 2001, Guillaume Arsenault took part in 2005 to the Ma première place des arts contest, finished finalist et won the Galaxie and Archambault awards. In 2006, He also obtained the Coup de pouce du Festival vue sur la relève award as well as the artistic creation award from the CALQ in Gaspésie.

Guillaume Arsenault will attend the all training week among the candidates and will have as task to share with the participants his young but nevertheless long touring and stage experience. He is also going to perform four songs of his own during the evening gala.
