2009 Wednesday Shows of Dieppe, New Brunswick: the program

The 22nd edition of the Wednesday Shows will be held from 8 July to 19 August 2009 at Dieppe (New Brunswick - Canada). Organized by the municipality of Dieppe, this summer series of free concerts will take place at Place 1604 at 18.30 every Wednesday.

«Aproximately 15 000 people from the Dieppe region anually attend the weekly event where some 12 artists share the stage said Mayor Jean LeBlanc. Wednesday Shows are greatly needed and appreciated. These shows family enable people to hear francophone artists from home and abroad. They attract nearly 2 000 people each evening, which encourages us to continue our efforts to organize in downtown quality and family activities.»

Artists will offer various styles of music throughout the summer with jazz, country, rock and Acadian music.

Presentation of artists and groups scheduled at 2009 Wednesday Shows of Dieppe

Gadelle
The four women of this group - two of which are former members of Barachois - are all Prince Edward Island natives. Their repertoire of traditional Acadian music showcases several musical instruments and dance elements. Great fun!

Denis Richard
This year, author-composer-performer and comedian Denis Richard is celebrating his 35th year in the industry! Petit-Rocher, Cap enragé, La vie de galerie... all these favorites carry the Denis Richard stamp. Concert fans love his poetical touch and, during his summer shows, an aroma of freshly cut grass accompanies his folk-rock- blues-country songs.

Josée Vautour
Known as the little Céline Dion of Saint-Louis-de-Kent, Josée Vautour is 11 years old. She charmed the public with her stunning performance when Quebec singer Michel Louvain visited the coastal village during the taping of «La petite séduction»..

Bluegrass Diamonds
Bluegrass lovers, this is for you! This group from the Memramcook region will both dazzle and allow you to discover their music drawn from their seven CDs. For the very first time at the Wednesday Show, come and discover Bluegrass Diamonds!

Nadia LeBreton
Winner of Star Acadie 2008 and originally from Maltempec, N.B., Nadia LeBreton resides in Dieppe. She will interpret several well-known songs from her repertoire. Come and meet this young star!

Swing
A career that spans 10 years with more than 900 shows across Canada and abroad and more than 500,000 concert-goers, one has to see Swing in action to appreciate the phenomena. The group has received numerous awards and critics are unanimous, this is a must see!

Samantha Robichaud
Regardless of which stage she graces, crowds love Samantha Robichaud! This young fiddle player enjoys an incredible career and is already known internationally. Her passion will impress everyone!

Bruce Daigrepont
Louisiana native Bruce Daigrepont’s favourite musical instruments are the accordion and the fiddle, both Cajun music staples. With a repertoire of more than 200 songs, Daigrepont’s show will certainly thrill all Cajun music lovers!

Danny Boudreau
Show after show, both in Canadian Francophone venues and different European countries, this artist has hit several Canadian charts. He will be presenting songs from his 5th CD entitled Mes Légendes. Danny Boudreau, an artist, through and through!

Paul Hébert
An experienced and acclaimed artist, Paul Hébert is part of a select few Francophones who excel in bluegrass music. Over the past year, he has played at the Place des Arts in Montreal, at the National Arts Centre in Ottawa and with Symphony Nova Scotia. Show after successful show, Hébert’s performance has won him praise. Each song on his album Les pauvres riches has hit the Top 12 Acadian chart.

Scott & Gerald Delhunty
Les frères Delhunty is a well-known group, renowned for its country music, both in French and in English. The duo, originally from Bouctouche, will be performing along with their musicians. Everywhere they go, crowds love them! Don’t miss out!

Melanie Morgan
A pure talent, this artist from Cap-Pelé has already made her presence felt in the music world, having won national recognition at the East Coast Music Awards in country music. Her music video, My Man, can be seen on CMT. Come out and enjoy Melanie Morgan!
