2008 Wednesday Show Lineup, Dieppe, New Brunswick, Canada

Dieppe (New Brunswick - Canada) will host for the 21st time the Wednesday Shows in July and August 2008. Every Wednesday of July and August Place 1604 will host concerts from 6:30 pm.

Blou and Pascal Lejeune are but two of the artists that will be performing during the 21st edition of the Wednesday Show organized by the Community Leisures Department of the City of Dieppe.

Several interesting and different artists will be on stage each Wednesday night during the months of July and August at Place 1604 in Dieppe (New Brunswick - Canada) with shows starting at 6:30 pm. In the past, crowds have always had great fun during the downtown shows.

“We are very proud to welcome these talented artists who have accepted to come and entertain Dieppe residents and our many visitors, said Mayor Jean LeBlanc. Our Wednesday Show program is always eagerly anticipated and appreciated by all. These family-oriented shows give people a chance to discover both our home-grown artists and others who hail from elsewhere. Each show attracts approximately 2,000 people and these continued successes have encouraged us to continue offering quality and family-oriented activities downtown.”

Artists will provide a wide range and style of music all summer long, with jazz, country, rock and Acadian music to name but a few.

Lisa LeBlanc - Lisa LeBlanc was 14 years old when she decided that the guitar was her instrument. Today, she is winning kudos left and right. Folk rock is the musical style that this young artist from Rosaireville is the most at ease with.

Blou - A Nova Scotia based group, Blou has, since 1994, won several awards in the musical industry field. As a matter of fact, they have travelled the world over with the Acadian music. On stage, their energy is contagious. Young and old can’t resist!

Sharon St-Coeur - Originally from Néguac and a member of a very musical family, Sharon St-Cœur is passionate about music and singing. In 2007, she won the contest Star Acadie. Come and discover this great talent!

La Virée - Everyone knows when La Virée is giving a show because their boundless energy is a dead giveaway. Since 2001, this group has been playing great music and demonstrating that life and good humour are worth sharing! La Virée, who offers Acadian music with a modern touch, is dedicated to French music.

Rémi-Jean LeBlanc Ensemble - This group of four musicians from Montreal is influenced by jazz, funk and popular music. Their pieces are filled with colors, shades and texture.

Mike Parker and Double Vision - These blues style musicians offer songs with plenty of rhythm and energy. Composed of Mike Parker, Ron Dupuis, Larry Maillet, David Boutin and Richard Shaw, this group has more than 100 years of combined experienced in music!

Les Frères Lanteigne - Originally from St-Isidore, in New Brunswick, Michel and André Lanteigne grew up in a musical environment. As Les Frères Lanteigne, they’ve been making Cajun, blues and Acadian music since 2005. One of their songs, À Tracadie, was in first place in the hit-parade Les Étoiles Country de l’Acadie of CJSE radio.

Tradition - Originally from Saint John, this group recently launched their first CD “Tradition”. Their music, with Cajun, rock, country and traditional influences, draws listeners into a rhythmic world where violin, mandolin, banjo and harmonica take pride of place.

Revanche - This group from South-Eastern New Brunswick is fascinated by French country music. The young musicians who are members of Revanche will most certainly make you appreciate their musical influences.

Rhéal LeBlanc - An artist from the Bouctouche area, Rhéal LeBlanc already has three CDs to his name. His Acadian country style songs have often hit the charts on the hit-parades of community radio in New Brunswick and Quebec.

Pascal Lejeune - This artist has a unique style, with pleasant melodies, original compositions and lovingly crafted words. Everywhere Lejeune performs, crowds love him. His songs are intelligent and filled with humour and poetry. He is a complete artist with a beautiful voice and a strong stage presence. His first album, Le commun des bordels, was a big success both with the general public and critics.

Pine Leaf Boys - From Lafayette, Louisiana (USA), this group of five young multi-instrumentalists performs Cajun and creole music. Their original compositions are a tribute to traditional melodies and are great for dancing. Let the good times roll!

La Famille Arseneault - La Famille Arseneault invites you to their kitchen party! Acadian traditions inspire this family of 12 people who play and sing well known Acadian songs but also their own original compositions.

Réveil - This group hit the charts of local radio stations with their first CD Sans problème. Réveil has distinguished itself on the Acadian scene and its members are ready to offer you an exciting show!

Break Light - This band of talented young musicians claims numerous influences, including blues and soft rock. They are presently recording their first CD of five original songs. Crazy about music, Break Light is more than willing to share their passion with the crowd.

Jonathan Painchaud - Meaninful and pertinent lyrics characterize this Quebec artist known for his authenticity and honesty. With his new album Qu’on se lève, Painchaud has delved into traditional music. With a rocker’s energy and a folk musician’s soul, this songwriter-interpreter draws us into an engaging world where stories, souvenirs and characters speak to each and every one of us.
